Top things to do from Paradise Koh Yao Noi with Kids
1. Village Day Trip
Although everyone will tell you it is a very bumpy ride. It is but well worth the trip. Gets you out and about for the day and we managed to score seats in the aircon cab in the front.
2. Moving between pool and beach
This island is so relaxing and peaceful that we were ok with relaxing by the pool or beach most days. Happy hours are throughout the day and you can get food whenever.
3. Hiring a kayak for the morning
We didn’t do this because, we actually just ran out of time. Even though the boys were small we could have still hired the kayaks and stayed in the shallows. Or the water is flat enough you can go out and around the island.
Day 1
Wednesday 24th, October
2am – Arrived Singapore Airport. Spent the 6 hour layover in the Aerotel Hotel in Singapore Airport. Was the best idea as although we only got about 2.5hours rest, we felt refreshed and ready for the next flight.
7:30am – Flight Singapore to Phuket. Hunter decided he was going to start crawling properly on the floor of the airport.
Cooper was invited into the cockpit of the plane by the Pilot. As he was over tired, he was very grumpy but managed to have a small chat with the pilot and some photos.
10:30am We were picked up at the Phuket Airport and taken to our stop over hotel, Aviation Hotel. This place is really unique. They have based the whole hotel on Aviation so every room has a plane theme and the front desk is made out of plane parts.
We spent the day swimming and catching up on much needed sleep.
Day 2
Thursday 25th, October
The day started with a nice sleep in until 7am. Everyone was still very tired from the trip over. We went down and had a great breakfast then packed and waited in the lobby to be taken to the boat at 10:30…. and waited… no one came until we asked the front desk and realised Phuket was an hour behind. We went for a swim and Cooper thought this was the best thing in the world.
11am – Boat ride from Phuket to Koy Yao Noi. We were driven into a private yacht club and saw some amazingly MASSIVE private boats. Before we asked we thought one was a navy boat not a private boat.
The boat ride was amazing and the islands were just like your typical postcard photos.
When we arrived on the island it was just as magical everything was so perfect and beautiful.
Our room was at the top of the resort in the jungle. With a massive spa that over looks the jungle into the ocean. We spent the day by the beach and pool eating and drinking.Managed to see a massive lizard and a flock of the Oriental Pied Hornbill.
Day 3
Friday 26th, October
Today we went down to breakfast early as the boys are still on Perth time an hour earlier. Cooper didn’t do much eating as he had way too much exploring to do of the beach and surrounding area.
Cooper spent a LOT of the day exploring the beach and pool whilst making new friends.
We also did a lot of resting and catching up on sleep which was so nice. Our room had a great view of the ocean but was hidden in the bush. It was a great day to rewind and Rick could finally take his working hat of and start to relax.
That evening we went and had dinner at the restaurant. It was great because Cooper literally had a sand pit wherever we sat and he was close enough to go looking for crabs while we ate.
Day 4
Saturday 27th, October
This morning started well at breakfast having an explore around the beach looking for crabs and crab holes.
We then came up to the room to chill and Rick and I took it in turns to go have a wonderful Thai massage on the beach. If you turned your head one way you had an amazing view of the ocean and the other way was a great view of the jungle.
We managed to stay out late tonight after the sun had set which was nice. The boys were happy to sit and play around the restaurant and we even got dessert. Half way through dinner a massive storm came through.. it was crazy how quickly the storms come and go and how strong they are. This one knocked down a massive tree branch. Both boys fell asleep in the prams on the way home.
Day 5
Sunday 28th, October
This morning started early with Cooper wanting to get up and ready to play at 5am. He managed to entertain himself until 7 which was a nice sleep in. Went down and had some breakfast. Cooper hardly ate as usual and Hunter didn’t stop eating.
We spent the morning between the pool and the beach. Cooper is becoming so much more confident in the pool and Hunter just loves being in the water.
It was really great because we managed to get both boys to have their morning naps in the prams. This meant that we were able to stay down at the pool and continue drinking and actually put our feet up and get some sun for once.
Hunter did his first proper crawl today.
Hunter was given a very pretty bow that the ladies at the restaurant had made him from a napkin. I maintain he would make a very pretty girl.
Day 6
Monday 29th, October
Today we took a ‘bus’ which was actually a truck that you sat on the back going into town. We had prearranged to go and see one of the schools. The ride in was VERY bumpy but Cooper and I scored the front seat which was a closed in cab with aircon. Rick and Hunter were on the back and Hunter fell asleep.
We then had to get a scooter taxi to the School on the way we came across a few buffalo.
The school was great they asked if I could do something with the class so I taught them a bunch of songs. The favourite was obviously ‘Hockey Pokey’. Cooper and Hunter had a ball but at times were overwhelmed by the amount of children in their faces. It was very hot but the boys did really well.
Caught the “bus” back and had both boys in the cab which was full on as they are ready starting to fight… Hunter kept touching Cooper and they had an argument about the cars. Fun times ahead.
Day 7
Tuesday 30th, October
Today we had a very eventful morning. Just after breakfast we watched a snake come up the sand and climb up one of the palm trees. Rick raced to the room to get his camera. In the meantime the snack had managed to get a gecko and they both fell out of the tree. For the next half hour we watched the snake and gecko fight and then very quickly watched the snake eat it. As much as we felt sorry for the gecko these its nature and what an amazing thing to watch.
Rick managed to get most of it on video. We have made a video and you can watch it just below.
Day 8
Wednesday 31st, October
This morning we woke up nice and early to try get some nice footage of the sunrise. It was so great to watch the animals waking up especially watching all the squirrels coming out of there homes and climbing/jumping to the palm trees to get some water.
Later that day we had a play with the Lense ball. Photos came out alright but we need to do some more practise.
Hunter was tuckered out after the mornings events and fell asleep on some chair cushions during lunch.
We met a great English family during dinner.
After dinner when we were walking home we happened to see a really big lizard come out of the jungle swim through the swamp and find a place for the night. I didn’t realise how good they were at swimming.
Day 9
Thursday 1st, November
Today was our last day…. 🙁 we were certainly not ready to leave. we had made some great friends on the island and the boys were not ready to leave the friendly staff!!
Hunter decided to boat ride out of the island was the best time to find his voice. Good thing the boat was loud and the people with us didn’t care.
We had a long stop over in Singapore so again we booked a room in hotel. We got in really late so it was dark outside. But to our great surprise we had a window literally facing the runway so Cooper spent most of the morning to his delight watching the planes come and go.
Great time can’t wait to go again sometime in the near future.

SD Storage Hack
SD Card Storage Whenever we travel we always seem to run out of space on our SD cards at the worst possible time. We came up with this system. It helps us to quickly know which of our cards are empty and ready to use and which are full. This I'm hoping will avoid...
